Agricultural Employment Decreases In India
Abstract
Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization . The employment in agriculture sector is decreasing because there is very less income in the agriculture sector and the increase in population is also the result of decreasing in employment in agriculture as of the most of the population has moved to the cities . Apart from the external and internal factors, exogenous shocks such as frequent droughts, floods and cyclones are also responsible for the falling employment share in the agricultural sector. These natural calamities cause extensive damage to crops, which in turn disincentivises rural workforce to take-up farming. Agricultue in India is undergoing a structural change leading to a crisis situation.
